As you know, our parish is more than just a place of worship; it is a cornerstone of our community
where we gather to celebrate our faith, support one another and reach out to those in need. To
maintain the vibrancy and functionality of our parish, we rely not only on the dedication of volunteers
but also on the financial support of our parishioners.
In recent times, we have faced increasing costs related to the upkeep of our churches, cemeteries and
other parish facilities. These include essential expenses such as utilities, maintenance, repairs and
improvements. To continue providing a welcoming and well-maintained space for worship,
community activities and outreach programs, we need your continued financial support.
Therefore, I humbly appeal to you for your generous contributions towards the upkeep of our parish.
Donations through our Mass collections are important, however, if your donation is documented i.e.
through the Envelope Collection, Standing Order, Bank Donation or Cheque the parish can benefit
further through the Tax Incentive scheme.
In Ireland, donations to churches, can qualify for tax relief under the Charitable Donation
Scheme. For parishioners who donate more than €250 in a year, the scheme allows the
charity (church) to reclaim tax paid on the donation, effectively increasing the value of the
gift to the charity.
Here’s how it works:
Procedure: To enable the charity to claim this relief, donors should complete a
CHY3 form which will be sent to you from our Parish office.
Eligibility: Donations must be at least €250 in a tax year. They can be made in a lump
sum or as smaller amounts that add up to €250 or more.
Donor’s Tax Status: The donor must be an individual taxpayer, and the donation
must be paid out of income that has been subjected to tax in Ireland.
Rate of Relief: The tax relief is applied at a blended rate of 31%. This means that for
every €250 donated, the charity can claim back €112.32 from the Revenue
Commissioners, making the total value of the donation €362.32.
